I had a couple volunteer tomatoes in hard-pan growing outside of the 'garden'. They were 8" tall as opposed to the volunteers which were 2' tall inside the encampment. Decided to dig them up and put them with the others instead of watching them die as they were getting so little water. Ended up bare rooting them but planted them anyway. The next day it's 100 degrees as it was the day after and after that. By then they were in full flower!It was a miricle!
